Sally Evans- Embracing Creativity
Delight Reminders

Do
you knit, sew, bead, garden, or play an instrument? How about displaying some of the things you
love to inspire and delight you? Arrange
your beautiful textured yarn in autumn colors in a crystal bowl on a
pedestal. Display seed packets on a wire
card holder or in a richly glazed pot sporting your favorite garden trowel and
gloves. Feature an etched crystal
champagne or wine glass filled with luminous luscious beads. How about hanging that gorgeous piece of
kimono or quilt fabric until it's properly "aged" and you've found the project
it wants to be when it grows up. You can
place your flute on tops of a few pieces of sheet music along with a rose in a
vase.
Anything
that reminds you of something that delights your senses, makes you smile, or
feel warm and fuzzy inside can be enjoyed now until it's the right time for you
to use it. And even if you never use
these wonderful things, think of all the moments of delight you will receive.
This idea is not intended to make you feel guilty that you aren't doing those projects. It is designed to simply remind you of things that bring you joy. But if you are inspired to play, you don't need to wait until you have a big block of time. You are allowed, you know, to do something for just five, ten or fifteen minutes. Oh, and it's ok if you have fun. It will be our little secret.
