Chocolate Hearts

Rich,
dark, sweet chocolate. I find that
inspiring! I wanted to make an easy but
special chocolate cake as a Valentine’s treat for my husband and son. They love chocolate too! I have a very fun and easy way to make
chocolate heart decorations. You can add
these to a cake you make (I used a cake mix and made a simple glaze) or
decorate a purchased cake or cupcakes.
Chocolate Hearts:
Place
a piece of wax paper onto a cookie sheet.
Put
approximately ½ cup of chocolate chips in a sandwich baggie. Melt them in the microwave for 30 seconds.
Knead
the bag and continue to heat them for 15-20 seconds until melted.
It
should only take a couple of times.
Push
the chocolate toward one corner of the baggie.
Cut a very small tip from one corner of the baggie.
Fold
the top of the bag over and squeeze the chocolate from the hole as you draw
some heart shapes onto wax paper. If you
want to get fancy, you can make curly cues inside the heart shape.
Have
fun, loosen up. If it doesn’t quite turn
out, eat it. The idea is to add a little
whimsical touch to the cake, not win a pasty award. Put the cookie sheet in the refrigerator to
harden the chocolate. Then add to your
cake.
